Sharing Caring with Teens

“The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself.” – C. JoyBell C.

To live is to grow. We at Unified Caring Association (UCA) love to share our tools and tips for growing caring children. Once the children have grown into teenagers, that nurturing can continue to help further the development of caring teens, who then become caring adults. But what can we share with our teenagers? UCA has found a group of videos that exemplify caring.

Videos for Sharing Caring with Teens

To help continue to develop teens into caring ambassadors we have several videos that we feel are great tools for more mature developing minds.

Life Vest Inside Videos

Kindness Boomerang- “One Day” is a 4-5 minute video that has an upbeat music filled with lyrics about kindness. As the video plays we can watch as an act of kindness passes from one person to the next. This act of kindness eventually returns to the original person it came from. This is a wonderful way to show teens that if they are kind, kindness comes back.

Revolution of Love is another video under 7 minutes long that is soothing and filled with caring lyrics. This slower paced song is a ballad that shows that simple acts of kindness create more noise that we often realize. As we listen to this song, we find ourselves with a soft introspective smile, humming along to this catchy melody as we work.

How to ‘Adult’

How to Adult has put out a short video on tips for self-care. In this 5 minute video teens can learn about what self-care is, how to set up a self-care plan, and so much more. It can be hard to figure out how to ‘adult’ in this time and age, and a key to managing the journey of adult life is learning how to take care of yourself to prevent burnout, stress, and more. Start your teens out early with this video, and help them become proactive in their self-care journey!

Under the Surface – Empathy Film

This is a short film by Austin Wideman about empathy. Throughout the film we see different individuals all struggling with various difficulties in life. Through thee revelations we begin to learn about what it means to be empathetic towards others. While watching this video your teen can see how we often do not see the whole story about people we meet and know. Teens can learn more about reaching out with caring hearts to create an understand bridge with the people they meet.

The Science of Empathy

In this informative we learn more about empathy in under 5 minutes. This Bill Nye-esk video gives a more scientific, detail oriented understanding of empathy and the human condition. Through the stories told and interviews with people show that when we are confronted with numbers and data we often have a hard time empathizing with others that are reflected by the statistical data. Where as if we are told a story more empathy is elicited. Learn more about why we have the inclination to feel for a person in a group over a group as a whole in this informational video that connects us more with caring communities.

Too Quick to Judge

This is a short film that help teach teens that we are often too quick to judge others. Watch a touching interaction between two young adults who learn that our situations are often not what they seem. You will feel emotions well up within you, and then realize how often we judge others before actually knowing them. This realization will help your teenagers take a step back and begin to see others with little or no judgements.

UCA has many tools and resources for helping grow caring children. Once your children are more grown up they will need different tools and resources to help continue their caring education. Keep checking back with UCA as we source additional resources for teens to succeed through caring.
