As a hub for caring acts for people, animals and the planet, we at Unified Caring Association (UCA) are jumping for joy about reforestation efforts of our friends at One Tree Planted. What makes us extra excited? Our friends at One Tree Planted have a surprise that we are so enthusiastic to share with our caring community! This is a program for kids and schools to get involved with reforestation efforts called T.R.E.E.S.
Helping Grow Caring Kids
One Tree Planted has a program to teach sustainability to children in kindergarten through 8th grade. When the class, student club, or even the whole school sign up they get access to a wealth of materials and the ability to run fundraisers to help plant trees around the world. One Tree Planted’s efforts are to make learning about reforestation and the environment fun and accessible to young growing minds. “One Tree Planted’s school program brings environmental education into the classroom through fun and engaging lessons and activities. Get your students excited about how they can make a difference.”
Getting Your School’s Sustainability Program Started
One Tree Planted can help start the T.R.E.E.S. sustainability program at your school. They have two well thought out lesson plans that are informative and educational discussing climate change and the importance of trees in ways that are fun for children. On their website they comment about how “[These lesson plans] teach you everything you need to know about the benefits of trees, deforestation, ways to help the environment, as well as tree and climate vocabulary.” One Tree Planted sends the school and student subscribers all of the lesson plans that include a teacher’s guide, interactive presentation and fun follow up activities.
A LIBRARY OF ACTIVITIES & RESOURCES
Part of what the schools and students have access to is a library of infographic posters that can help your next discussion of reforestation and sustainability grow into caring action. Some of the topics include: Why Trees Matter, Carbon Footprint Facts, and 10 Fundraising Ideas. With these clever and beautiful posters learning about the environment will become fun for everyone!
Joining the Fun
One Tree Planted makes it easy to sign up your school/class/club by listing multiple fundraisers around the world. Just pick one and hit the ground running! Build a fun cover page for your fundraiser and to showcase your caring team, then share it with friends, family, peers, and the rest of the caring community to gain support and achieve your fundraising goal!
Don’t feel like starting a new fundraiser? There is the option to select a fundraiser that is ongoing at another school! Select one, two, or more teams to support and cheer them on as their reach their goals.
