We’ve always been an observer of life, and these days, there is certainly a lot to observe. As our usual routines dissolve into shoulds and should-nots, we are scrambling to redefine the orchestration of our lives. Our physical survival now depends on the script of the Greater Good.
As we ride the wave of rearranging our lives, many of us will find our souls reaching out to be of caring service. Even as we are challenged with a more restrictive way of living. As we expand our awareness outward, we will surely find something or someone who could benefit from our soul’s awakened desire. The following are four areas of life that deserve a chance at the REFRESH button.
Without going into the statistics of how many children need homes, clothing, food, etc., the one thing we can all do is to be kind to children. We need to validate their existence and really listen to their feelings. Sometimes all it takes is a simple smile in acknowledgment of their presence. If your heart goes out to children, look for a way to help create a safer life for them. Supporting an organization that is dedicated to children’s well-being is a wonderful way to show we care. We may not be able to give children a voice, but we can help give them a chance!
If we are fortunate enough to have animal friends in our family, boy are we lucky! Animals are a constant presence of innocence and unconditional love. They keep our nurturing instincts alive and provide opportunities for us to show devotion. And if we’re lucky, they give us endearing excuses to keep our hearts open. Not everyone sees animals this way, and there are many organizations scrambling to provide safety and security for them. Find one you resonate with (dog/cat rescue; horse rescue, etc.) and support them. Every little bit helps and you will be contributing to the betterment of the innocent ones. Right now, there are some animal shelters that could really use help in fostering to alleviate the overflow of animals due to the lull in adoptions. If you have room in your home and in your heart, please contact your local rescue agency. There are even some shelters offering to provide the food, so if that works for you, it certainly could be a win-win!!
Our earth has been parched, burned, polluted and trashed. We are all guilty of contributing to this in one way or another. What a glorious opportunity we have now to take a second look at how we can alleviate some of the pressure from our host planet. In just a few short months, pockets of new life are sprouting up in areas that had long been deadened by overuse of trash, chemicals and the like. Dolphins have been seen cavorting in the waters of Venice and air quality is cleaner in quarantined areas. With limited use of cars and other transportation, the earth is stretching and can breathe a little more than before. if this pandemic leads to a more natural rhythm of life, we are all tremendously blessed. So let us remember the signs of a renewing earth and when we go back to normal, may we commit to a New Normal where all of life is cherished and respected.
Our senior population is living longer and longer these days. That does not necessarily mean they have continued vitality or ability to ‘do life’ as the rest of us. Even if they are not dependent on others, they deserve our awareness that they may need a helping hand during these times. If you know of someone who needs to stay put and cannot go out, check in with them to see if there is something they need. We are all in this together, and looking outside your walls can be a tremendous boost not only to someone in need, but to your own self-worth as well.
Truthfully, we are being given a potential gift. We are on Pause and have this awesome opportunity to Rewind to create a more conscious life. The enforced quarantine will be over at some point, and a new day will be born. What we bring to that new day will be the culmination of our thought forms, creativity and awareness.
It is easy to become worried and preoccupied with the imposed restrictions we must all endure. What a test for our sense of control! Going with the flow as much as possible will help us stay in the present moment and make better decisions all around. It is important to take time to care for ourselves so we will have the physical and emotional presence to take care of our families. And if we take that first step to reach out and care about some aspect of the world around us, we will come out better, more human human beings.
To wrap it up, here we are in a forced hiatus of our doingness. What a great time to focus on our beingness – an inward examination of our goals, ideals, renewed commitments and rearrangement of our priorities. Many exciting revelations await us and the rest of this planet. May we react with wholesomeness, awareness, resolve and a renewed faith in mankind. We are worth it!!
We are all being called to do extraordinary things for the collective caring of our families, communities and the world in response to the unique coronavirus pandemic. Whether home bound or providing critical services, everyone is stretched to adapt like never before. All of us are in this together. Now more than ever, caring is what we need most. Caring for our self. Caring for others around us. Life is going to require new routines, resilience and compassion. We invite you to join us in creating a caring movement to respond to local needs.
